To satisfy his craving for serving his community and cultivating change with other leaders, participating in Impact Denver was a no-brainer for Nate Boler. “As a transplant to the Denver area, I joined ID to learn about the issues that affect this community and to get connected to other civic leaders pushing to make positive change,” Nate said.

A fresh Impact Denver Spring 2022 alum, Nate recommends the program to anyone looking to get involved in shaping the future of their community with a truly supportive system behind them. “Even on top of having a full-time job and many family responsibilities at home, I have found the workload very manageable,” Nate said. “I have especially appreciated the intentional approach the leaders of this program have taken to create a safe and welcoming space where everyone’s voice is heard.

It can be hard to let down your guard, especially in a room full of strangers. With that in mind, Leadership Foundation programs are designed to go beyond the surface to allow participants to dig deeper within themselves, together – and Impact Denver is no exception. “My fondest memory from the program is getting to know my classmates on a personal level and being inspired by the wide-ranging ways they display their leadership in their jobs and in the community,” Nate remarked.

Impact Denver participants meet over the course of six months to learn more about regional issues and tackle a real, challenging problem faced by a local organization. For their community project, Nate’s group partnered with Augustana Arts, a non-profit dedicated providing people with a deeper, more meaningful interaction with classical music, to lead a community outreach campaign for the organization. “We recruited local artists to decorate music stands that were placed across the [metro] Denver area to educate the public about the importance of music for youth development,” Nate said. This special campaign is set to become an annual tradition.

Nate has found Impact Denver to be deeply rewarding in many ways, satiating his desire to serve and lead.
