Celebrate community leadership: The signature annual event of the Leadership Foundation, Leading Colorado recognizes exceptional community leadership—with a bit of drama—by announcing the 9NEWS Leader of the Year live and honoring Student Leader of the Year. All proceeds support the Leadership Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Scholarship Fund, ensuring people of under-represented sectors can participate in our programs and enhance their impact in the community.
2018 9NEWS Leader of the Year
Nominate an outstanding leader for the 2018 9NEWS Leader of the Year by Friday, Nov. 3. The winner will be selected, out of three finalists, by Leadership Foundation alumni and announced live at the Leadership Foundation’s Leading Colorado luncheon on March 8. We’re looking for community leaders who have made a significant impact. Meet our 2017 Leader of the Year Stephanie Donner, chief legal and people officer of Galvanize Inc.
What makes a great 9NEWS Leader of the Year nominee?
Has a track record of making an impact in the community—after business hours or as part of your role working at a nonprofit organization—not just because it’s the right thing to do but because he/she is driven to make our community stronger.
Shows the values of leaders in Colorado—what we call Colorado’s Civic DNA: inclusivity, collaboration, shared vision, responsibility and leadership.
Meets the criteria in the fine print:
Lives and works in Colorado
Not an elected or appointed official, or currently running for office
Available on these key dates: semi-finalist interviews on Nov. 9; finalist videotaping in early December 2017; and the Leading Colorado luncheon on March 8, 2018.
Rally your Leadership Foundation alums: As an alumnus of the Leadership Foundation, you’re part of a community of more than 4,000 civic-minded leaders who work hard every day to make a difference.
And, you have an important role in the selection of the 9NEWS Leader of the Year. Leadership Foundation alumni select the honoree from three finalists whose work is transforming the community.
Our goal in every Leadership Foundation program is for you to gain the knowledge, network, skills and experience to enhance your impact in the community. How you work matters as much as what you do, which is why our community values—Colorado’s Civic DNA™—are part of every program and events like Leading Colorado.
Whether you’re an alum of a Leadership Foundation program or looking to learn more about community leadership, Leading Colorado is an inspiring afternoon that introduces you to hundreds of civic-minded people, as well as the Leadership Foundation.
